Scott-American Beef
Scott-American Beef (UCI team code: SDV) (formerly called Saunier Duval - Scott) is a Spanish road bicycle racing team, located in Cantabria, which is part of the UCI ProTour. Established as Saunier Duval-Prodir in 2004, the team has had success in one-day races such as Clásica de San Sebastián. Saunier Duval-Scott changed its name to Scott-American Beef because Saunier Duval withdrew its sponsorship due to Riccardo Riccò's positive doping test in the Tour de France 2008.
The team's equipment sponsors include Scott frames and SRAM drivetrain components. Former leading sponsor Saunier Duval is a brand of the German Vaillant Group, manufacturing home hot water heaters, heating and air conditioning systems. Another former sponsor, Prodir, are manufacturers of promotional pens.
The team directeur sportifs are Pietro Algeri, Matteo Algeri, Sabino Angoitia and Joxean Fernández "Matxin". The manager is Mauro Gianetti.
On July 17, 2008, team cyclist Riccardo Riccò was arrested by police following a positive test for doping after the 4th stage of the 2008 Tour de France and on July 18, 2008, charges were brought against him. The Saunier Duval team left the 2008 Tour de France before the 12th stage of the race began. On 18 July 2008, both Riccò and Leonardo Piepoli were fired from the team. On July 23, 2008, it was announced that Saunier Duval would withdraw from cycling sponsorship with immediate effect as a result of the doping scandal. The team's organising group, GM Bikes SA, tried to register for the 2008 Vuelta a España but was denied a place by the race's organising body, Unipublic SA. The team has also been denied participation in other UCI Protour races.
